Aden Ridgeway
Aden Ridgeway was born in Macksville in northern NSW in 1962. He is a proud member of the Gumbayyngirr people. His life has seen him rise from the treadmill of poverty and of growing up on an Aboriginal reserve. His early experiences have resulted in strong family traditions and he is the very proud father of two adult sons and a younger daughter. |
He attended boarding school at St John's College, Woodlawn, and left in 1980. He has been a park ranger, court assessor, chief executive officer and federal politician.
Aden is the first indigenous person to be elected as a Parliamentary Leader when he held the position of Deputy Leader, Australian Democrats, during 2001-02. More recently, he retired as a Senator for NSW, having served in the Federal Parliament for six years.
He is currently Executive Chairman of Indigenous Tourism Australia, and Adjunct Professor, UTS, Sydney. He also holds the positions of Chairman, Bangarra Dance Theatre, and Chairman, NSW Reparations Repayments Scheme Panel. Aden is also the prime time presenter of ABC’s “Message stick” Program, and he currently works as a consultant to various organizations, including the NSWALC, Chase Property Investments and Maari Ma Aboriginal Health Corporation. He is now also the Patron of The Centre for Aboriginal Independence and Enterprise.

Tim Powell
Tim has 20 years’ experience working in journalism, politics, public affairs and marketing. He joined Cox Inall in 1996 and became a director in 1999 prior to his appointment as Managing Director in 2002.
At Cox Inall, Tim has worked on major national issues across the financial, agribusiness natural resource management and community sectors. |
Tim has developed extensive experience in working with stakeholders on major change projects.
Tim has an extensive network of contacts in Australian politics, the media, environmental and community NGOs, industry associations and the corporations that service Australian agribusiness.
Prior to Cox Inall, Tim worked for the Rural Press Group for seven years as a senior writer and as a media advisor to the Hon John Fahey during his time as Premier of New South Wales.
Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts (Rural Journalism) from the Curtin University of Technology, Perth and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Sydney.
He is also a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and a former president of the PRIA NSW Registered Consultancies Group.

Fiona Dewar
With over six years’ experience in Indigenous, rural and regional affairs and a solid grounding in agribusiness, Fiona Dewar is an experienced communication strategist, publicist and project manager.
As Group Account Director for Cox Inall Ridgeway, Fiona oversees project delivery for all clients.

Drawing on the skills and expertise of Cox Inall Ridgeway staff and network of Indigenous consultants, Fiona ensures all client projects are appropriately resourced, delivered on time and within budget. Fiona was integral to the creation and development of Cox Inall Ridgeway. In 2006 Fiona started working with the Aboriginal Employment Strategy on a pro-bono basis to create relationships with metropolitan and regional media and assist the AES to engage with Australian corporations. The success of this relationship established the AES as Cox Inall Ridgeway’s foundation client.
Fiona has since worked on a wide number of projects including developing a community engagement strategy for Lion Nathan to assist the community of Brewarrina to reopen their Aboriginal Cultural Museum; communicating National Australia Bank’s programs for Indigenous Australians via their Reconciliation Action Plan with a comprehensive media relations strategy; managing a series of workshops across Australia on behalf of the National Gallery of Australia to inform the development of the Wesfarmers Arts Indigenous Fellowship; and developing a communications strategy to support the Indigenous Australian Art Commercial Code of Conduct.
For six years Fiona has also managed Cox Inall’s media relations program for the Sydney Royal Easter Show on behalf of our long standing client the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.
Fiona grew up near Moree in North West NSW and is passionate about working with Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians to create opportunities and pathways for a reconciled future.
Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts – Communication (Public Relations and Organisational Communication) from Charles Sturt University, Bathurst. She is a Member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (NSW) and participates on the State Awards for Excellence committee.

Alison Hunter
Alison Hunter is an Account Coordinator at Cox Inall Ridgeway and provides support for a range of government and corporate clients.
Prior to Cox Inall Ridgeway, Alison worked at the Yanda Aboriginal Art Centre in Alice Springs in an artist carer and production support role. As part of this role Alison assisted artists with official paperwork and liaised with government departments. |

These included Centrelink and the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress on behalf of the non-English speaking artists, and in this capacity Alison also had regular contact with other organisations such as the Tangentyere Council and the Central Land Council.
Alison also volunteered for six months in the Sponsorship and Donations department at The School of St Jude in Tanzania. She managed the school’s existing and potential sponsorship accounts, helped to coordinate a number of community relations activities and gained experience working with international and local Tanzanian media.
Alison completed a Bachelor of Arts (Communication – Public Relations and Organisational Communication) in 2007 from Charles Sturt University, Bathurst and was awarded the Public Relations Institute of Australia (NSW) Prize for the graduating student who submitted the most outstanding project work in any Public Relations and Organisational Communication subject undertaken through the School of Communication.
During university Alison complemented her theory through practical experience in public relations with global companies such as Monsanto and Ogilvy and at events such as The Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Country Week Exhibition and the Bathurst International Motor Festival.
Alison also works on the Sydney Royal Easter Show with Fiona Dewar and Kate Leahy. Alison provides support for the media relations strategy aimed at engaging urban audiences to appreciate the agricultural heritage and highlights of the Show.
