Mental Health, Healing and Wellbeing

CIR has 12 years of experience across the mental health and wellbeing sector. CIR presents a strong team with skills in culturally appropriate evaluation and expertise in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health and related issues. As an organisation, and as individual consultants, we understand the ways mental health and social and emotional wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is tied to culture and identity, a sense of inclusion and belonging, pride and connection to Country.

We have and continue to work on a range of mental health and wellbeing projects and very sensitive and delicate areas of healing work. Our leadership team has worked with child sexual abuse survivors, stolen generation survivors, a range of other institutional survivors and on suicide prevention programs along with developing cultural safety frameworks focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Key staff have completed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health first aid training and specialist trauma-informed training. As part of our team we have Vanessa Edwige, a senior Aboriginal psychologist who has worked as a team leader, clinical supervisor and advisor for many NGOs in the health sector, including the Healing Foundation and the Department of Education.
